Overview of the role

We are looking for a Deputy Manager for our gorgeous Nursery and Preschool in Horley. This is an ideal opportunity for a Senior Room Leader, Room-Based Assistant Manager or current Deputy looking for a new challenge to work as a team with the Nursery Manager. You will be embedding Quality Practice from the outset and provide an outstanding service at every level.

Responsiblities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • To deputise in the Manager’s absence.
  • To assist with monitoring staff to ensure policies and procedures are being followed
  • To work in partnership with your manager and room leaders
  • To assist in the day to day running and responsibilities for the nursery
  • To work in partnership with parents

Qualifications and experience

In conjunction with Hawk Training, Fennies offers outstanding candidates the opportunity to complete an Intermediate (Level 2) Apprenticeship in Children’s and Young Peoples Workforce within our growing chain of nurseries.

Courses are normally for 12 months and Fennies pay above the National Minimum Apprentice Wage as well as offering other benefits, including a free meal in the nursery at lunchtime.

Successul candidates will develop experience in all areas of day to day nursery life and a sound knowledge of current good childcare practice in order to start a fulfilling career in childcare.

Your responsibilities will include supporting children in play and learning activities, everyday care routines such as meal and sleep times, enhancing the environment with displays of children’s work, observing and record keeping of children’s development and planning to meet their individual needs supported by establishing positive relationships with parents and carers.

We are looking for people who have:

  • The ability to relate and interact with children;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with parents, carers and other childcare professionals;
  • The ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions;
  • Good observation and organisational skills;
  • A willingness to learn new skills and ability to identify when they need to ask for support;
  • A reasonable level of IT skills would be an advantage;
  • Good levels of numeracy and literacy (minimum level 1 Functional Skills, GCSE Maths and English grades D-F or equivalent). If you have GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths grades A-C you will be able to start on the advanced apprenticeship immediately;
  • An introductory level in Child Development, Health and Social Care or similar entry level qualification is an advantage but not

Selection Process

Following a successful telephone interview, candidates will be invited to attend an interview at one our eight nurseries in Surrey, South London and Kent.  Successful candidates are then invited to an extended interview, an opportunity to speak to current apprentices, a tour of our nursery followed by a work trial in the nursery setting, prior to being offered a placement, normally within that nursery. 

 

Fennies follows a Safer Recruitment and Selection Process and you will be expected to pass a full / enhanced DBS check prior to employment which Fennies will pay for. Employment will not begin until you have been given clearance.

You will rostered to work on shifts between 7.30am- 6.45pm. The successful candidate may be required to work in different settings where the need arises.

 

Career Opportunities

Upon successful completion of the Intermediate (level 2) Apprenticeship there may be an opportunity to progress onto an Advanced (level 3) programme if there are vacancies across one of the settings.

Fennies cannot guarantee a permanent position at the end of the apprenticeship and the fixed term of 12 months. An offer of a full time position is dependent on current staffing requirements.

Training on your Apprenticeship

Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for 19 to 24 year olds is part funded, with employers expected to make a contribution. Funding for apprentices aged 25 and over is limited and employers are expected to make a part or full contribution.

House Keeper / Cleaner - Addiscombe Road, Croydon

Hours and Salary: 

Monday to Friday 20 - 35 hours per week

Afternoons and Evenings until 9.00 pm

£7.00 - £8.00 per hour, dependent on experience.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced and meticulous Housekeeper / Cleaner to maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness and hygiene, working within the nursery on a daily basis, both when the nursery is open and operating and when it is closed.

  • You will be expected to work to a daily cleaning rota and monthly deep clean
  • Your duties will include mopping floors, cleaning toilets, wiping woodwork, cleaning glass, laundry duties, intense cleaning of fixtures and fittings; all to a very high
  • You will be cleaning in front of children, parents and managers and so must be well- presented, well-mannered and able to take
  • You will be responsible for the up keep of your own stock
  • You will adhere to all Health & Safety and COSHH
  • You will be a key holder and will need to lock up and secure the nursery every

Requirements;

 You must have previous experience as a cleaner in a Nursery, School or

  • Up to date COSHH training is
  • Up to date Health & Safety
  • You must be able to speak, read and write English
  • Enhanced DBS Clearance is essential. Fennies will process and pay for this upon offer.
