Things that make us proud
We enjoy sharing glimpses of life at Fennies with parents and families every day, through our Facebook page and receive lots of lovely comments and likes. We are also delighted to have been recognised for many childcare industry awards and in particular those that acknowledge our commitment to training and developing our people.
Here are a selection of some of our most loved moments on social media this year.
Our Day of Inspiration
At Fennies, we recognise the importance of nurturing and shaping the skills, knowledge and interests of our workforce in order to ensure the highest levels of achievement for all children who attend our nurseries.
As part of our uncompromising commitment to the professional development we offer a range training and development opportunities. From our engaging in-house induction programme; motivational online training offered through Educare; attendance at inspiring in-house and external training courses to attendance at national conferences.
This commitment helps ensure that we are kept up to date with current legislation, guidance and research regarding how best to support children’s learning and development. It also helps us meet and exceed the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
We cover many subjects in our training and development programme, for example safeguarding and child protection, the characteristics of effective teaching and learning and health and safety. An essential part of training and development occurs each year when our nurseries close for our annual ‘Day of Inspiration’
On Friday 7th April 2017 all Fennies childcare staff made their way to a hotel in Croydon to participate in a range of training courses. The training was provided by the Kent Threads of Success’ team who are dedicated to offering training and support to ensuring excellence and meeting the early education and childcare related needs of children and their families.
Our teams attended a range of courses, which included:
• Creating an inspirational outdoor learning environment
• Outdoor Play for 2 year olds
• Prime Importance of Communication and Language
• Supporting Family Involvement in Children’s Learning
• The Magic of Maths
• Let’s Look at Literacy
• English as an Additional Language in the Early Years
• Loose parts play
• Supporting British Values through Practice
• Routines Matter (0-2 year olds)
• Being Creative (0-2 year olds)
• A place to be (0-2 year olds)
• Walking in Shoes of Giants (2 year olds)
• Little Treasures (Babies)
Following the training, everyone is committed to embedding their learning into everyday practice with individual plans based upon “What will you do differently as a result of this training?” Our Nursery Managers will ensure that each member of staff is supported to put into practice any changes that have been inspired by the training.
Please feel free to ask your child’s Key Person, or your Nursery Manager for more information or if you have any questions.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity Easter Egg Appeal
A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped us collect Easter eggs and craft items for The Royal Marsden Cancer Chairty Easter Egg Appeal. We collected a whopping great 278 eggs alongside lots of craft materials for the appeal. Dayna and Jess, our Manager’s from St Augustine’s and Bromley, led the collection for a cause that is very close to their hearts. Here is a picture of them both with Manager’s Jaimie and Stacey donating the Easter eggs to The Royal Marsden Easter Egg Appeal volunteers.
The Children’s Trust 2016
We were very proud to have raised a whopping £7,000 for The Children’s Trust. This was a culmination of all our nurseries fund raising efforts for The Children’s Trust in 2016. This is a picture of our CEO, Steven Fenn and Head of Marketing, Kerin McDonald presenting the big cheque to The Children’s Trust fundraising team. They were given a tour of the facilities and learnt more about how our money will support for this amazing charity.
