At Fennies we understand that it’s not easy to be a student, which is why we have developed a bespoke apprenticeship package to make studying and earning that little bit easier.
An apprenticeship will give you the valuable skills and training that are necessary for a rewarding and successful career in childcare. The courses we provide will enable you to learn how to look after children of different ages and to help develop a child’s education and development both mentally and physically.
Level 2 Children and Young People’s Workforce apprenticeship
This course is a 12-month programme provided by our training partners Hawk Training, The course provides individuals with the fundamental key skills for those who wish to take their first steps into the childcare sector.
You will receive after you qualify;
- Level 2 Certificate in Children and Young People’s Workforce (QCF)
- Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT (if no prior exemption)
- Level 2 Award in Employment Responsibilities and Rights in Health, Social Care or Children and Young People’s Settings
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
- Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Children and Young People’s Workforce.
- Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce apprenticeship
Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce apprenticeship
This course takes place over a 20-22 month period and is provided by our training partners Hawk Training. The course will give you an opportunity to develop a further understanding of the Early Years Foundation framework (EYFS), policies and provide you with first aid training.
You will receive after you qualify;
- Level 3 Early Years qualification
- Recognition that you are a qualified practitioner
- Pediatric first aid qualification

You will work alongside qualified practitioners across all areas of the nursery and with children ranging from 0-5 years. This will enable you to develop your practical skills in caring for young children whilst studying to be a qualified practitioner and give under the support and guidance of the management team within the setting.

Fennies follows a safe recruitment and selection process and you will be expected to obtain an Enhanced DBS check prior to employment. We will pay for this and your employment will not begin until you have been given full clearance. Although Fennies cannot guarantee a permanent position at the end of the apprenticeship a number of our apprentices have taken up permanent employment on successful completion of their qualifications. Any offer of a permanent position is dependent on current staffing requirements.
