My favourite part of working in early years is being able to be part of the foundational years in a child's life- the years that are so crucial in a person's development. I love seeing the children grow with curiosity and begin to develop their social skills and scaffold their learning. It's such an honour, and it's what got me into early years.

Room Leader, Charity

Fennies has helped me gain my qualification and become a Deputy Room Leader and hopefully a Room Leader in the future. The Room Leader Training Day helped me to develop my skills and knowledge to become not only a better Deputy in the room but a better team member within the room.

The most rewarding part of the day for me is first thing in the morning for two reasons. One, I love seeing the children happy to come into the nursery and happy to come to me and leave their parent or guardian as they feel safe and secure at nursery. And two, I really enjoy setting up activities in the morning and as the children walk in seeing their reactions to what they will learn and play with today is one of the best feelings.

Room Leader, Rose

A Nursery Room Leader position at Fennies is a full-time job. You will work five days a week, Monday to Friday.

Fennies Nurseries offer nursery and preschool places for children between the ages of 3 months to 5 years. We have different rooms, which are specifically designed for the different development stages in the early years. Which room you are placed in will depend on 3 things: your preferred age group, your specialised experience and the vacancies we have available.

Yes. Through your experience working in preschool, day nurseries or other childcare settings, you’ll have a good working knowledge of a child’s development. You will be able to implement your knowledge through the expected patterns of development. Through your studies, you will know the EYFS syllabus, Birth to 5 Matters and be versed in additional learning such as Makaton, STEM of Phonics.

For both of these positions, you will need to have the relevant qualification and experience. However, the safety, responsibility and management of the team are directed by the Room Leader. If the Room Leader is not in the nursery room at any time, the Deputy Room Leader takes on the roles and responsibilities of the Room Leader. Therefore, it is important that both staff members are confident in managing the other staff members, ensuring the health & safety of the children, and they have the other necessary knowledge by attending regular courses.

Applying for a job at Fennies couldn’t be simpler. You can either send in your cover letter and CV to recruitment@fennies.com or fill out the application form.
