Emily – Room Leader
I started at Fennies three years ago as an unqualified Apprentice. Fennies supported and encouraged me to complete my Level 2, followed by my Level 3 qualification which has given me the opportunity to become a Room Leader.
Since being at Fennies I have been able to work with all different age groups. I started off with the babies in the Explorers room and then moved into looking after pre-school children. Childcare is very challenging and there is a lot to learn, but each day you get to play and teach the children new things and it all becomes worth it when you see them succeed. I have found working within Childcare to be very rewarding and extremely satisfying, especially when you see them grow and get to be part of that journey with them. All the parents are really nice too which is great!
I didn’t think I would ever get to become a Room Leader. Fennies really believed in me and supported me hugely along the way. My Manager has played a key role in my development and my progression has been recognised and rewarded.
The confidence I now have has meant I have been able to express my interest for other courses such as Safeguarding and SENCO and am now responsible for two key children with SEN in my room. Before I took any courses I really didn’t know much about looking after children and certainly not children with SEN. I am proud of how far I have come and can definitely say I would not have been able to do it without the support of my manager and the opportunities offered at Fennies.
