As part of our apprentice program we have partnered with HAWK, one of the leading training providers, to offer you the opportunity to complete a level 2 or 3 qualification, depending on your previous experience and qualifications and individual needs. During your time on the apprenticeship you will gain knowledge of early years practices, pedagogies, safeguarding and experience all aspects of nursery life.
Level 2 apprenticeship – 14 months

Children’s Learning and Development
How you’ll be assessed
Throughout your apprenticeship you will build a portfolio, have various meeting and discussions, and an end point assessment.
What functional skills you’ll gain
You will gain a deeper understanding of the EYFS and gain valuable hands-on experience. Other skills gained include:
Speaking and listening observation
Study towards and completion of English reading and writing exam and mathematics exam

Level 3 apprenticeship – 20 months

How you’ll be assessed
- Throughout your apprenticeship you will build a portfolio, have various meeting and discussions, and an end point assessment.
What functional skills you’ll gain
As a level 3 qualified practitioner, you will have gained an in-depth knowledge of early years. At this level, you will receive more responsibility and be able to take on management roles within the nursery. Other skills gained include:
- Speaking and listening observation
- Study towards and completion of English reading and writing exam and mathematics exam
- A Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
- Earn whilst you learn with a competitive salary

- You’ll be assigned by your own tutor that will work with your manager to plan and support you through the duration of your apprenticeship programme, including visiting you in the workplace
- You’ll be offered allocated time for off the job learning
- With HAWK, you’ll will be given a blended learning approach of online and face to face delivery. Their approach combines established training with cutting edge methods of delivery and facilities. We work closely alongside HAWK to provide our apprentices with a comprehensive skill set that sets you up for a successful career in childcare.
- You’ll have an interest in beginning a career in early years, delivering excellent learning activities and care to children and building bonds with parents.
- You’ll have the ability to relate and interact with children
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop positive relationships with parents, careers and other childcare professionals
- The ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
- You will be able to relate and interact with children with good observation and organisational skills.
- A professional attitude and the ability to use your own initiative
- A willingness to learn new skills and ability to identify when they need to ask for support
- A reasonable level of IT skills would be an advantage
Once you’ve completed a nursery apprenticeship, you’ll have gained a comprehensive skill set to begin your career as a level 2 or level 3 . After that, you can then work towards other roles in the childcare industry; including room leader, deputy nursery manager and nursery manager!
