Overview
Fennies offer placements for those who choose to study Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 at local colleges as well as work experience for school students. We aim to make placements the highlight of a student’s qualification where they have the chance to gain a real insight into the challenging yet rewarding work in the childcare sector.

As an award-winning nursery you’ll benefit from excellent insights into how a successful nursery is run. You will also gain valuable work experience so you can make informed choices about your career choices and plans once schooling ends. And if you really like your experience with Fennies, there could be a future here for you!
This depends on your school or college’s requirements, but usually will be one or two weeks in July.
You will need to wear your college uniform or all black clothing. Footwear should be appropriate and safe for nursery work – black flat comfortable shoes, or trainers are permitted. Jewellery should be kept to a minimum and tattoos covered.
Each branch has a nursery manager and room leader in the setting to guide you through nursery life, showing you ways to get involved and how to interact with children. We encourage you to ask questions to the other nursery practitioners to develop a deeper understanding of the practice observed.
