From 15th June children will benefit from focused PE sessions led by Sasha Flynn. Sasha has recently graduated from university with a BSc Hons in Nutrition, Exercise and Health alongside being a qualified personal trainer, with a wealth of experience working as a sports coach for children of all ages. Sasha is passionate about enhancing children and adults’ lifestyles and wellbeing and is also studying for a master’s degree in counselling for children.
Sasha is looking forward to devising and delivering a comprehensive PE curriculum working alongside children’s key carers at each nursery, this will ensure activities are tailored to meet targets across all key areas of learning. The activities will also play a crucial role in supporting the development of children’s mental development by building upon self-confidence, self-esteem, team building skills and communication and language through activities involving taking turns and following instructions.
Fennies Oxted Nursery Manager Kerri Savage says, “Physical activity has endless health benefits for children. Not only does exercise improve a child’s overall health and fitness, but it has been scientifically proven to improve their mental health and cognitive development as well. Physical development is essential and allows the children to explore and learn new skills such as hand eye coordination, balance and enhance strength. We recognise that children need daily access to physical activity to promote fitness and expand their fine and gross motor skills. Learning this in a natural environment provides challenge and risk to their development.”
We hope you are just as excited as we are for Sascha to join the team!
