Fennies Cheam opened in 2026 and has been designed with children’s development at its heart. The nursery features bright, airy rooms that create a calm yet stimulating atmosphere, encouraging children to explore and learn with confidence.
Conveniently located just a 3-minute drive from Cheam Train Station, the nursery offers easy access for families. A secure drop-off and a dedicated pick-up area ensures smooth arrivals and departures, even on busy days.

Our Cheam nursery is a bright, inviting space designed to nurture every stage of early childhood development.
Inside, the spacious rooms let children explore freely, fostering confidence in their abilities. Quiet corners are thoughtfully placed to help children regulate emotions and spark curiosity.
Outside, the nursery offers a carefully designed garden, helping meet the needs of our youngest learners. Each of the rooms have free-flow access to the garden, allowing children to move between indoor and outdoor spaces with ease.
Explorers Room (3 Months - 18 Months)

The Explorers Room at Cheam offers a calm and nurturing environment for babies, supporting early physical growth and sensory development. Our caring team follows consistent routines to give children a sense of security while introducing new experiences that encourage learning. With a 1:3 staff-to-child ratio, each baby receives individual attention, and the team works closely with families to support daily needs and overall development.
Discoverers Room (18 Months - 24 Months)

The Discoverers Room supports toddlers as they transition from infancy into early toddlerhood. Children are encouraged to explore at their own pace, take part in activities that capture their interest, and develop communication skills. The team follows structured routines for mealtimes and toileting to foster independence and provide reassurance. With a 1:3 staff-to-child ratio, toddlers receive focused attention and guidance during this key stage. They also have free-flow access to our garden, where outdoor play gives them further opportunities to explore and discover.
Creators Room (2 Years - 3 Years)
In the Creators Room, children aged 2 to 3 years focus on building independence, developing early language skills, and learning to interact with their peers. The room encourages play through sensory experiences, imaginative role play, and early mark-making. Children start forming friendships and take pride in small responsibilities, such as helping with mealtime routines. With a 1:5 staff-to-child ratio, the team is always available to offer individual support. In-room bathroom facilities aid gentle toilet training, helping children feel confident and secure.
Inventors Room (3 Years - 5 Years)

The Inventors Room helps children as they get ready for school, offering a space where learning is hands-on and engaging. Children take part in STEM activities alongside literacy and numeracy, developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. With a 1:8 staff-to-child ratio, each child gains confidence while receiving focused support. Carefully selected resources encourage curiosity, and materials reflect everyday experiences to help children make sense of the world around them.

The outdoor space at Cheam is designed to keep children active while supporting their physical development and curiosity. Outdoor play is incorporated into daily routines, helping children connect with nature and enjoy time outside.

This carefully designed area allows children to explore the culinary world through hands-on experiences, helping them develop practical skills for life. Emma brings her passion for Early Years education into everything she does, sharing her enthusiasm with children through engaging activities and practical learning experiences. She has a particular love for baking, often using it as an opportunity to teach children important life skills while having fun. Active in her local community, Emma organises trips to care homes and the library, helping children connect with others from different nurseries and members of the wider community. Over the course of her Early Years career, Emma has loved watching children grow from their very first day at the nursery to when they move on, finding it one of the most rewarding experiences. Looking ahead, she is committed to providing her team with guidance and training that allows them to flourish in their roles and reach their full potential, helping to improve the Early Years sector one step at a time.
Mariana (Deputy Manager)

Mariana brings her creativity and passion for Early Years education to every aspect of nursery life, encouraging children to explore and express themselves through imaginative experiences. With a true love for art, you’ll rarely find her without a paintbrush nearby! She stays connected with her local community by building strong relationships with families and helping children develop confidence through creative learning opportunities. One of the highlights of her Early Years career has been hosting open days, welcoming new families, answering questions and helping ease any concerns about starting at a new nursery. Looking ahead, Mariana is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, fostering a strong sense of community and helping children and team members thrive alike.

Paula (Regional SENCO And Inclusion Manager)
Paula plays an integral role in offering support to children with additional needs or those learning English as an Additional Language (EAL). She plays a key role in enhancing our team’s understanding of both SENCO and EAL empowering us to provide the best possible care.
Ruth (Education Advisor)
Ruth is pivotal in motivating our teams to create engaging and stimulating environments for our children. She is a strong advocate for our initiatives like our ‘Book of the Month’ and our recently introduced ‘Music and Movement’ campaign. Music-based activities are essential to our curriculum due to their profound impact on brain and emotional development, along with its benefits on children’s holistic well-being during their Early Years.
Majka (Art Specialist)
Majka frequently visits all of our nurseries, including our South Croydon nursery, to guide the children in learning through art. Each month, she introduces an ‘Artist of the Month’, encouraging children to explore various art activities inspired by that artist’s works.
Recruitment At Fennies

At Fennies Cheam, we follow a rigorous recruitment process to welcome new team members who are dedicated to Early Years education.
This approach ensures that safeguarding, care and education standards are always maintained. Every new staff member completes a thorough induction, and by their second day, they receive paediatric first aid training. This equips them with the essential skills to provide a safe and supportive environment for every child.
Food At Fennies

At our
nursery in Cheam, the in-house kitchen team prepares fresh, balanced meals each day, tailored to children’s tastes and dietary needs. Menus change twice yearly to reflect seasonal produce and are accredited by the Early Years Alliance (EYA). Ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible, providing nourishing meals that support active learning and play.
